Sports

#1 Soccer

Soccer (more popularly known as Football in many regions) is a team sport that is popular in almost every country in the world. The huge fan following is perhaps due to the fact that at an amateur level, it requires very little equipment and effort to learn the basics. Thus, kids start playing soccer at an early age and go on to become ardent followers of the game. Soccer is also the highest paying team sport at professional level. The prize money for the winning team at the 2010 soccer world cup was US $30 million. The synonym of enthusiasm and zeal, soccer or soccer posses the number 1 ranking in the world's most popular sports

#2 Cricket

Cricket The second most popular sport in the world is also a team sport. Cricket's number two spot in terms of number of fans is thanks largely due to its popularity in the Indian sub-continent. It is popular in Asia, Australia, England and few selected countries, but is slowly expanding its reach to other countries. Cricket is a rather interesting sport with many formats - from test matches which last for 5 days to the more recent 20-20 format which has a duration of about 3 hours. The original format of the game (5 days) and the somewhat involved rules and skills required meant that Cricket was popular among a few selected countries to begin with. However, the introduction of the 20-20 format has resulted in many more countries participating in the sport at an international level.

#3 Field-Hockey

Field-Hockey Field hockey is another team sport with reach across the globe. It is played in atleast 116 countries (members of the International Hockey Federation). Matches at the professional level have a duration of about 1 hour 15 minutes, making hockey a short and action packed sport. Field hockey is one of the most popular team sport for women.

#4 Tennis

Tennis Tennis is the 4th most popular sport in the world, but is the most popular individual sport. Tennis can be played between two single players or two teams of a pair of players each (doubles variant). It is a sport which is equally popular among men and women. Lawn tennis is a very high paying individual sport - individual players have made more than $40 million in a year alone. Tennis is a fascinating game as well as exercise. The fact that there is no time limit in the game means a player has to work hard on his/her stamina - matches between professionals often turn out to be a test of endurance. The only limiting factor in the popularity of the game is the availability of good tennis courts. Everyone should try Lawn Tennis - the world's most popular individual sport atleast once!

#5 Volleyball

Volleyball Volleyball is also a team sport which is popular across the globe, partly due to its different variants (it can be played indoor as well as outdoors). Volleyball is popular among men as well women. Officially, the sport is played between teams of six players each.

#6 Table-Tennis

Table-Tennis
Table-Tennis is another individual/pair sport which makes it to the top 10 most popular sports list. Informally, table-tennis is also known as ping-pong. One of the advantages of the game is that it requires relatively lesser space, so many clubs, schools and recreational centers have a table-tennis court. Though it appears that there is relatively less running in the sport, a serious game of table-tennis can be a very good exercise due to the swift movements required.

#7 Baseball

Baseball
Baseball, the national pastime of the United States, is the 7th most popular sport in the world. In form, it is closest to Cricket, another popular sport. Baseball is also a very high paying sport at the professional level - the total prize money for the World Baseball Classic (WBC) tournament standing at $14 million, and individual players in the United States earning as much as $33 million in a year.

#8 Golf

Golf
Golf is the most popular sport which can be played solo (without requiring a partner). It is a game where focus is completely on individual brilliance - ones performance in Golf is not influenced by the opponent's. A golf course can offer unique scenic beauty and natural environment unmatched by any other sport. As golf courses are often rare even in big cities, many people first try their hands on an alternative form - mini golf. Though the sport is played regularly only by the wealthier class, people love to watch golf. Golf has the record for an individual sports-person earning the highest amount of money ever. As of 2010, Tiger Woods has earned close to $900 million in his career so far. He has earned around $90 million in 2010 from winnings and endorsements alone.

#9 Basketball

Basketball

Top Basketball players in the world are rewarded handsomely. In 2004, Michael Jordan made 35 million dollars.

#10 Football

Football
Football is one of the most intensive contact sports. In the US, it is simply called Football (and "Football" is called "Soccer"), while in the rest of the world, it is often more commonly known as Gridiron.

Survey Sites

Here is a list of survey sites which actually pay:

Surveysavvy - Surveysavvy is one of the oldest and best survey company to work with. The payment structure is always via check and usually sent within 3 or 4 weeks once the survey is done.

Mysurvey – You will get surveys daily and the payment structure is based on points. Once you have 1000 point in your account you are eligible to fetch in 10$.

Brandinstitute – This is an interesting site that sends you survey on new and forthcoming products.

Opinionoutpost – This is relatively a new market research company, but indeed good. The payment structure is via points – 1 point = 10 cents USD.

Surveyspot – You will get lots and lots of surveys with Surveyspot. You would have to fill out few screeners before getting a paid survey.

Esearch – Esearch is simple and neat company to work with. You will get about 2 to 5 surveys each week.

Harrispollonline – Harris Poll Online powered by Harris Interactive is a very interesting and active survey panel.

TestSpin – You can make up to $15-$20 for a survey with TestSpin if you qualify. Survey invites are always with email notice and incentives are mostly cash.

Mindfieldonline – This is another small but straightforward site to deal with. You get surveys about once a week.

Ithinkinc – Their surveys are fun to fill up, although you may not receive often. Payment structure is via check and you get it usually in 3 to 4 weeks after the survey is completed.

Online Jobs

College students live online. Some of them use the web purely for research. If you’re a college student in need of some extra cash, you may be surprised by the amount of job opportunities available to you online. How perfect is that? Here is a list of the top ten jobs for students online.
10 – Data Entry
Data entry work is very simple to do, and you can find tons of data entry jobs online. These jobs will involve basic tasks on the computer, like putting information into spreadsheets or organizing documents into folders. oDesk.com is a great website to go to for data entry jobs, but I will forewarn you that they work on an international level. Thus a lot of these jobs only pay $2-$3 an hour. You may have to scour for some well-paying, easy jobs like this.
9 – Surveys
Believe it or not, you can take surveys online and make money from it. I’ve never actually worked through a site that does this, but I do know that they’re out there. I’ve heard of SurveyClub before, but there are other sites out there. Feel free to explore.
8 – Amazon Mechanical Turk
Amazon Mechanical Turk is a “marketplace for work” (Yes, I stole that phrase from the website). It’s basically a site where businesses and web developers can post odd end jobs to have random people do. You can pick up a job for a $1, $5, $10 – it just depends on what the job entails. This site may not pay the bills, but it might pay the beer tab for a night. The jobs are really easy to do there, so just create an account and check it out.
7 – Translating
If you speak a foreign language fluently, you may make some money doing translation work. oDesk has a lot of translation jobs available for decent pay, and you can sometimes find positions in the jobs section of Craigslist. This isn’t a job for every college student, but it can provide a decent part time living for those who qualify.

6 – Secretarial Work
Most people assume that secretaries have to work in an office, but that isn’t always the case. You can be a virtual assistant for a company and work right from your computer. Many of these positions require full time commitment, but there are part time positions as well. You just have to show the company that you are knowledgeable and trustworthy.
5 – Sales
If you don’t mind working on commission, you can always make money in sales. I see sales positions on Craigslist all the time, and they usually offer decent commission pay for good salespeople. You could sell makeup, Tupperware, cleaning supplies, insurance, or anything else. It’s just a matter of finding the job.
4 – Blogging
I’m obviously a fan of blogging since, well, I’m doing it right now. I don’t use blogs to make money per se, but it is possible for you to do that. You can buy a domain name and hosting service from GoDaddy, and then all you have to do is upload WordPress for your content. Pick a general theme for your posts, and then get some of them on the web. If you start getting views for the blog, you can put ads on it that earn you money. This may not be a guaranteed way to make money, but it’s easy, fun, and potentially profitable.

3 – Vlogging
Vlogging is just video blogging. This is a great options for college students because video viewers like seeing young, attractive people talking to a camera. You can make videos about whatever you want, and then you can upload them to YouTube for free. If they start getting a lot of views, YouTube will ask if you want to put ads on your videos. Those ads can earn you some serious cash. All you need is a webcam and the internet to get started.
2 – Writing
There are literally thousands of writing jobs online that you can use to make money from. If you’re a decent writer, you should be able to make minimum wage or better just by writing articles on your computer. I write full time and make more than many college graduates do, and this is something I actually enjoy doing. Check out my article on How to Make Money as a Freelance Writer for more information about how you can make this system work for you.
1 – Tutoring
Tutoring can be a killer job if you know what you’re talking about. You can tutor fellow college students, high school students, elementary school students and more. It just depends on your expertise. I have a friend that runs tutoring sessions for a local community college, and he gets paid $10 a person to have large tutoring sessions right before tests. He usually has 10-20 people show up, and they only stay with him for about an hour. $200 isn’t bad pay for 60 minutes of time if you ask me. You might be able to setup a similar program yourself. You can tutor online just as easily as you can tutor in person. You just have to find the job to let you do that.
